Supermercados Prime

Commercial

Project Description

The project consisted of the renovation of a commercial space previously occupied by a sports clothing store that was in a state of abandonment. The design challenge was to project a supermarket space in a place where the space was conditioned by a very limiting enclosure and an unfavorable relationship with the exterior. The rectangular space as a plan configuration was divided in half by a heavy wall across the entire premises, which divided the space in two, resulting in two very elongated spaces. Furthermore, the façade facing the street did not have sufficient exposure to the interior and for the purpose of a supermarket aspiring to enter the market as a brand, it was an inopportune spatial situation. The two biggest modifications to the space were, first, the demolition of the dividing wall, to create spatial fluidity so that the furniture could be adjusted to the most efficient layout. The second modification was the demolition of the façade wall to take advantage of indirect natural lighting and greater exposure of the interior of the supermarket to people outside.
